Oh, November. That time between Halloween and Christmas, and home to Sweet Potato Awareness Month (we’re not kidding). If you want to celebrate with Fido, check out this recipe for Sweet Potato Dog Treats! Often times the healthiest treats are the ones you make at home, because you know exactly what’s in them!

Anyways, let’s get back on track and take a look at what went down at Dewdney in November.

Corgi Puppy Party

Corgi puppy having fun with the staff at CTV news this afternoon

Posted by Dewdney Animal Hospital Ltd. on Tuesday, November 3, 2015

We’re starting this post off strong with an adorable puppy playing with the staff at CTV News. Corgis are a fashionable dog breed lately, and they are so cute we love them to pieces! If you are thinking of buying a Corgi please keep in mind that they are active dogs that require a great deal physical and mental exercise, and can nip and herd small children! It is also important to get your puppy from a responsible breeder and not a pet store or puppy mill.

Check out this great article, “Pembroke Welsh Corgi Temperament What’s Good About ‘Em, What’s Bad About ‘Em” for more information.

Updates on lucky Pixie

A little history on Pixie in case you missed it: Pixie was hit by a car and suffered nerve damage to her right front leg. Because she was going to need lots of veterinary care Coquitlam Animal Shelter surrendered her to us so that we can do the necessary treatments.

We have since done an amputation and spay for her.

Flying under the Influence

This bird either hit a building or clipped by a car. While it seems drunk we can assure you it wasn’t flying under the influence. We kept a close eye on the bird on pain control and got some very cool slow motion shots of the release!

Wobbles but Won’t Go Down!

We want to give you an update on one of our success cases. Wobbles the dog came in two years ago. Today we got to visit her and see her progress. She is doing GREAT!!! and has a new name Lizzy. So everyone let’s visit Lizzy’s story again!

Wobbles Does Wobble But She Won't Fall Down

Wobbles got her surgery last night. It was far more complicated then we thought. Surgery went on until 7:30 pm and By the time recovery and cleanup was complete it was 10 pm. I would like to put out a huge thank you to everyone who donated to save wobbles leg. With out your generosity this would not have been possible. Thank you to the Bcspca who went the extra distance to help Wobbles out. Thank you to Dr. Smith whose skill and patience was essential to Wobbles recovery. And finally a huge thank you to my staff who donated their time an energy when they could have been home with their families.
