Trooper at Dewdney Animal HospitalIt was a Sunday morning when the SPCA called Dr. Walton up at home asking him to come in and investigate a cruelty case. Under-caffeinated and still half-asleep from having an 8 month old baby, Dr. Walton headed down to the clinic.

Even after helping out the BCSPCA Cruelty department for years, Dr. Walton was still shocked to see the dog that came out of the SPCA van. Weighing half his normal weight, with every rib showing and an overpowering stench of urine and feces, the dog still was wagging his tail and licking your face. Such an exuberant attitude after such a horrible time, my staff member Dana called him a Trooper. The name stuck.

You may have seen Trooper on the BCSPCA commercials. Today Trooper has a wonderful family and is a regular visitor to Dewdney Animal Hospital.
